Uses: | Furniture, cabinets, flooring, architectural panels and doors. Properties: Golden to a dark brown sometimes having contrasty stripes and occasionally a mottled figure. A very dense heavy wood. |
Machining: | Due to a silica content this specie has a blunting effect on tools. The wood saws slowly. |
Seasoning: | The timber dries rapidly and reasonably well with only a slight tendency to distort. Extra care is needed for kiln drying in order to avoid collapse. |
